In the Olden-eld Algierland was known to Greeks and Romers as Numidia, or Berbers. It was also known by the Phoenicians, who had built a town called Carthage in what now is nearby Tunisland. The Carthagers gave them an oath of selfstandship if they helped them throughout their Punish War against Rome, although Carthage lost and Numidland became a Romish shire. It was later overcome by the Vandals and was soon wrested from them by the Byzantines.
In the Middle-eld, Algierland was overcome by Arabs, who made it a Muslim land. The Spanish built many strongholds in Algierland, most of which were later forsaken or sold. It was overcome by the Ottomans in the H16th; in this time, the Berbers became seareavers so well known that the Banded Folkdoms of Americksland had a war against them to ward their trading ships.
In 1830, Frankrike overwon Algierland, which became one of their landholds. Many French settled there, until in 1954 French foresitter Charles de Gaulle held a coring to answer clepes for selfstandship. The lede chose selfstandship, and much of the un-Muslim folk had to flee to Frankrike, for the muslims were slaughtering them.
