# The name of the first stream is Phison; it flows around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.

# The name of the next or other stream is Gehon; it winds throughout the land of Cush.
# The name of the third stream is the Tigris; it flows east towards Assyria. The fourth stream is the Euphrates.
# Then God took the man that he had made and put him into Eden's grove, to work it and ward it.
# And God gave man a behest, saying, "Of all the trees in the grove you may freely eat;
# "But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat, for on the day that you eat from it you may well die."
# And God said, "It is not good that man should live alone: I will make a helper fit for him."
# Out of the ground God made all the beings of the field and wilderness, every winged bird flying above the earth, and brought them to Adam to see what he would name them. And whatever Adam called each living being that was what its name became.

# Now the snake had know-how and was crafty, more so than any other wight in the wild. One day he asked the woman, "Did God indeed say that you must not eat any ovest which the trees in the grove bring forth?"
# And the woman answered, " We may eat from the ovest that the trees in the grove bring forth;
# but of the ovest of the tree which is in the middle of the grove, God has said, "Do not eat of it, nor take it in your hands or you will die."
# You will not die", said the snake to the woman.
# The snake told the woman, "God knows that as soon as you eat of it, you will know good from evil and be all-knowing like God."
# Then the woman saw that the tree's yield was good for food, fair of sight and spanning to gain wisdom. So she took some of it and ate it, and gave some to her husband who also ate it.
# Then suddenly they became aware that they were naked, and they wove leaves together to make clothes to hide their shame.
# And the man and his wife heard the sound of God walking through the green-sward in the cool of the day; and they hid themselves among the trees; away from the sight of God.
# And God called to the man, and said to him, "Where are you?"
# So he answered, "I heard the sound of You walking in the green-sward and I was full of fear for I was bare, and I hid myself."
# And God said, "Who told you you were bare? Have you eaten from the tree I told you not to eat from?"
# Then the man said, " The woman whom You gave me as a mate, she gave me apple of the tree, and I ate it."
# Then God said to the woman, "What have you done?" The woman answered, "The snake outwitted me and I ate some of that apple."
# God said to the snake, " For what you have done you will be cursed more than any any other wight of the field or the wild. And you will slink on your belly and eat dust all the days of your life"
# You and the woman will hate each other; your offspring and her offspring will always be foes. Her offspring will strike your offspring on the head; your offspring will bite her offspring on the heel."
# To the woman He said, "I will greatly worsen the ordeal of your childbirth, and in bearing your children your body will hurt deeply. Yet your longing and craving will be for your husband and he will be lord over you."
# Speaking to Adam He said, " As you have taken the heed of your wife and have eaten from the tree I told you not to eat from, cursed is the ground you are upon. You will work hard for food: seeding, tilling and harvesting from dawn to dusk all the days of your life.
# And the ground will bear thistles and thorns for you, and you shall eat weeds and worts of the field."
# By the sweat of your brow you will gather the food you eat until you go back to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are, and dust you will be again."
# And Adam called his wife Eve, for she was the mother of all who have life.
# Also God made clothes out of skins for Adam and Eve to wear.
# Then God said, " Since man has become like one of Us, knowing all from good to evil, and from blessing to bane, he is forbidden to reach out from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."-

# So He drove them out, and he put on the east side of the grove of Eden winged beings, and a fiery sword whirling every way to block the way to the tree of life.

# Now Adam made love to his wife Eve; and she became with child and gave birth to Cain and said, “With the Lord’s help I have had a son.”
# She later gave birth to another son Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, while Cain tilled the ground.
# In time the day came when Cain brought some ovets of the earth as a gift to the Lord.

# Now Cain talked with his brother; and it happened that one day, when they were in the field, Cain struck Abel and killed him.
# Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” And he said, “I don’t know: Am I my brother’s keeper?”
# And He said, “What have you done? Listen! The stim of your brother’s blood calls out to Me from under the ground.
# “So now ill and harm will befall you, and you are casted out from this ground, which has open its mouth to your brother‘s blood shed by your hand.
# “When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its crops to you. You will be forever an outcast; harried and homeless, a wanderer upon the earth.”
# And Cain said to the Lord, “The wite that you wrought upon me is more than I can bear!
# “Truly You have driven me out this day from this land, and I shall be hidden from your being; I will be a restless wanderer upon the earth, and whoever finds me will try to harm me.”
# And the Lord said to him, ”No, for anyone who kills you or yours afterbears will thole gainback seven times over. And the Lord put a mark on Cain to warn anyone who might try to harm or kill him.
# Then Cain went from the ken of the Lord and wandered in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
# And Cain and his wife made love, and she became with child and gave birth to Enoch. And, at that time, Cain was building a town and he called the town after the name of his son --Enoch.

# Then Lamech said to his wives, “Adah and Zillah listen to what I say. I have killed a man for wounding me, and a youth for striking me.
# “If seven lives are to be taken for the life of Cain, seventy will be taken for mine.”
# And Adam and his wife made love again; and she gave birth to a son, and named him Seth. “For God, she said, has given me another son in stead of Abel, whom Cain killed.”
# And as for Seth, he had a son, and gave him the name of Enosh. At the time when men first began to call upon the name of the Lord in worship.

# And it came to pass, when men began to become many on the earth, and daughters were born to them.
# And the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair; and they took any they chose as wives for themselves.
# And God said, "My breath shall not be in man forever, for he is only flesh; so the days of his life will be one hundred and twenty years."

# These are the lifespans of Noah‘s kin. Noah was an upright man and without sin in his time: he walked in the ways of God.

# And the earth was evil in God's eyes, filled with wrath and bloody deeds
# And God looking down on the earth, saw that the ways of man had become evil and sinful.
# And God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all folk, for the earth is full of their wrongdoings
# "Make for yourself an ark with pens, stalls and nests in it, and overlay it with pitch inside and out.
# And this is the way you are to make it: it is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high.
# You are to put a window in the ark, 18 inches from the roof, and a door in the side of it, and you are to make with a lower, middle and upper floors.
# And I will send a great floodwater onto the earth to wash away all life. Every being that has the breath of life in it; and everything that is on the earth shall die.
# But with you I will make a troth; and you will come into the ark, you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you.
# And you will take with you into the ark two of every kind of living thing, and keep them free from harm; they will be in kind, he and she
# Two of every kind of bird, fowl, wight and every kind of creeping thing which goes on the ground you will take with you that they may be kept alive.
# And you will stock every kind of food for yourself and them.
# And all these things Noah did; as God said, so he did.

# And the Lord said to Noah go into the ark, you and all your offspring, for you alone, from among all the folk on earth, I have found to be upright in this time.

# And of every kind of bird of flight take, by seven, a cock and a hen, so that their offspring may still be living again over the whole of the earth.
# For after seven days I will send rain upon the earth for forty days and forty nights, to put an end to every living thing which I have made over the whole of the earth
# And Noah did everything which the Lord said he was to do.
# And Noah was six hundred years old when the waters came flowing over all the earth.
# And Noah, with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives, went into the ark for fear of the flooding of the waters.
# Of clean wights, and of wights which are not clean, and of birds and fowl, and of everything which goes on the earth,
# Of kind by two, bull and cow, buck and doe, ram and ewe and so on, they went into the ark with Noah, as God had said.
# And after the seven days, the waters started flooding over all the earth.

# And God did not forget Noah, and all the living things and the livestock which were with him in the ark: and God sent a wind over the earth, and the floodwaters started to fall.
# And the springs at the bottom of the seas and the floodgates of heaven were shut, and the rains stopped.
# And the floodwaters went slowly down from on the earth, and at the end of a hundred and fifty days the waters were all but gone.

# But the dove saw no-where dry to roost, and came back to the ark, for the waters were still deep over all the earth; and Noah put out his hand, and took her into the ark.
# And after waiting another seven days, he sent the dove out again;
# And the dove came back at evening time, and in her mouth was an ele-leaf broken off: so Noah knew that the waters had gone down.
# And after seven days more, he sent the dove out again, but this time she did not come back to him.
# And in the six hundred and first year, on the first day of the first month, the waters had dried up on the earth: and Noah made an opening in the roof of the ark and saw at last that the earth was dry.
# And on the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was dry.
# And God said to Noah,
# Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons' wives.
# Bring with you every living thing that is with you, birds and livestock and everything which creeps on the earth, and hurries along the ground, so that they may have offspring and be many in number and spread throughout the earth.
# And Noah went out with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives;
# And all wildlife, all livestock, every bird and fowl and every living thing of every kind which creeps on the earth, came out of the ark, one kind after another.
# And Noah built an altar to the Lord, and he choose clean wights and birds from every kind and offered them as burnt offerings on the altar.
# And when the soothing smell came to the Lord, he said in his heart, I will never again put a curse on the earth, for though the thoughts of man are evil even from the time of his youth; never again will I bring death to all living things as I have done.
# While the earth goes on, seed time and the time of reaping and harvest, cold and hot, summer and winter, day and night, will not come to an end.

# And God gave his blessing to Noah and his sons, and said, have many children, so that they will spread throughout the earth and make it full.
# And the fear of you will be strong in every wight of the earth and every bird of the sky; everything which creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, will be given into your hands.
# Every living thing will be food for you; I give them all to you as before I gave to you all worts
# But you must not eat meat that still has blood in it, for blood gives life.

# And God said to Noah, this is the token of the troth which I have made between me and all living things on the earth.
# And the sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and Ham is the father of Canaan.
# These three were the sons of Noah and from them all men and women sprang.
# In those days Noah became a tiller of the ground and he planted wineberry
# And he drank of the wine and was overcome by it; and he became unclothed in his shelter.
# And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father unclothed, and told his two brothers outside.

#Then YHWH said to Abram, “Get out of your country, from your kindred, and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.
#I will make you a great leed; I will bless you and make your name great so that you will be a blessing.
#I will bless those who bless you, and I will awerry those who curse you; and in you all the maithes of the earth shall be blessed.”
#So Abram outfared as YHWH had bidden him, and Lot fared with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he outfared from Haran.
#Then Abram took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his nephew, and all their goods that they had gathered, and the souls whom they had gotten in Haran, and they outfared to go to the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan,
#Abram went farther into the land till he came unto a stead called Shechem, as far as the oak of Moreh. And the Canaanites were then in the land.
#Then YHWH sweetled to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” And there he built a waybed to YHWH, who had atewed to him.
#And he went from there to the hill east of Bethel, and he pitched his hut with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built a waybed to YHWH and called on the Name of YHWH.
#So Abram fared, going on still toward the South to the Negev.
#Now there was a great hunger in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to stay there far a while, since the hunger was swithe in the land.
#And when he was about to go into Egypt, that he said to Sarai, his wife, “Indeed I know that you are a sheenful woman.
#and when the Egypters see you, that they will say, ‘This is his wife;’ and they will kill me, but they will let you live.
#Say you are my sister, so it can be alright with me for your sake, and so I can live by your inthing.”
#When Abram went into Egypt, the Egypters saw the woman, that she was sheenful.
#Pharaoh's eldermen also saw her and told Pharaoh about her. And the woman was taken to Pharaoh’s house.
#He undfanged Abram for her sake. He had sheep, oxen, he-asses, he and she thaners, she-asses, and wasteland-horses.
#But YHWH beswang Pharaoh and his house with great blightdoms for Sarai, Abram’s wife.
#And Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?
#Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’? I might have taken her as my wife. Now therefore, here is your wife; take her and go your way.”
#So Pharaoh bebade his men about him; and they sent him away, with his wife and all that he had.

#So Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the Negev.
#Now Abram was sore rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.
#He fared on, bit by bit, from the Negev as far as Bethel, to the stow where his hut had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
#to the stow where he had made a glowstead before; and there Abram worshipped YHWH.
#Now Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and huts,
#so that the land could not bear both of them living together; for their things were so great that they could not live together,
#and there werthed a strife between the herders of Abram's livestock and the herders of Lot's livestock. At that time the Canaanlings and the Perizzlings lived in the land.
#Then Abram said to Lot, "Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herders and my herders; for we are kindred.
#Isn't the whole land before you? Fare from me. If you go to the left, then I will go to the right; or if you go to the right, then I will go to the left."
#Lot looked about him, and saw that the land of the Jordan was merry with water, like Nerxnawong, like the land of Egypt, coming up to Zoar, before YHWH had towended Sodom and Gomorrah.
#Then Lot chose for himself all the land with the Jordan, and fared eastward; and so they split from each other.
#Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the towns near the Jordan and took his hut as far as Sodom.
#Now the folks of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against YHWH.
#The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had split from him, "Lift up your eyes now, and look from the stow where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward:
#all this land that you see I will give to you and to your seed forever.
#I will make your offspring as manifold as the dust of the earth; so that if one can arime the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be arimed.
#Get up and go through the length and the breadth of the land, for to you will I give it."
#So Abram took his hut, and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre, that are at Hebron; and there he built a glowstead to YHWH.

#And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Thedes;
#That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.
#All these had banded together in the dale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.
#Twelve years they did bestead Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rose up.
#And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
#And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-paran, which is by the wilderness.
#And they returned, and came to En-mishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the counttry of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezon-tamar.
#And there went out the king of Sodoom, and the king of Gommorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they clashed with them in the dale of Siddim;
#With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of Thedes, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.
#And the vale of Siddim was full of slimmepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that were left fled to the high hills.
#And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their foodstuffs, and went their way.
#And they took Lot, Abram's bother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and they left.
#And there came one that had gotten away, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were banded together with Abram.
#And when Abram heard that his brother was taken and bound, he gave weapons to his yeomen, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and put them to flight, even unto Dan.
#And he sundered himself against them, he and his yeomen, by night, and smote them, and put them to flight even unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
#And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the folk.
#And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after he came back from the smiting of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, and the dale of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.
#And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the Elder of the Most High God.
#And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, overlord of heaven and earth:
#And blessed be the Most High God, which hath borne thy foes into the hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
#And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the folk, and take the goods to thyself.
#And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up mine hand unto YHWH, the Most High God, overlord of heaven and earth,
#That I will not take from a thread even to a shoestring, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich.
#Save only that which the youths have eaten, and the share of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their share.
