Ficklestuff (Mean English: Astatine) is a lightrotting firststuff with the token At and uncleftish rime 85. It is the most seldom selfgoing firststuff in the Earth's hull, bestanding only as the rotting ware of feelfold heavier firststuffs. All of ficklestuff's evenstells are short-lived; the most steady is ficklestuff-210, with a half-life of 8.1 stounds. A smack of the sheer firststuff has never been gotten, since any can-seen-by-eye smack would be eyeblinkingly wended into mist by the heat of its own lightrotting.
The marks of ficklestuff are not known with sickerness. Many of them have been guessed from the firststuff's berth on the Board of Firststuffs as a heavier alikeness of bawsestuff, and a fellow of the Table of Ormotes (the thede of firststuffs including thrillstuff, greenstuff, stenchstuff, and bawsestuff). However, ficklestuff also falls roughly along the splitting line between blomen and unblomen, and some bloomy way has also been seen and foreguessed for it. Ficklestuff is likely to have a dark or glossy look and may be a halfbeloader or maybe a blome. Blendlore-wise, feelfold streammote kinds of ficklestuff are known and most of its meldings are near to those of bawsestuff, but it also sometimes shows bloomy marks and shows some likenesses to silver.
The first manmaking of ficklestuff was in 1940 by Dale R. Corson, Kenneth Ross MacKenzie, and Emilio G. Segrè at the Lorehouse of California, Berkeley, who named it from the Forold Greekish ἄστατος (astatos) 'fickle'. Four evenstells of ficklestuff were found to be selfgoingly bestanding, although much less than one bit bestands at any given time in the Earth's hull. Neither the most steady evenstell ficklestuff-210, nor the healingly noteful ficklestuff-211, bestands selfgoingly; they can only be made by man, wontly by beshooting whiteweight-209 with ᚠ-motes.
