It lies about 1,100 sailermiles (2,000 km; 1,300 mi) northeast of New Sealand. Fiji is made up of an iland cluster of more than 330 ilands of which about 110 are simble bewoned—and more than 500 holms, riming a full land breadth of about 18,300 fouredged kilometres (7,100 fe mi). The most outlying iland sammming is Ono-I-Lau. About 87% of the full befolking of 883,483 live on the two greatest ilands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. About three-fourths of Fijiers bewoned on Viti Levu's shores: either in the headburg of Suva or in smaller townwise mids such as Nadi—where leadaboutism is the greater stowly bulkbuildship; or in Lautoka, where the suckerreed bulkbuildship is dominant. The inner land of Viti Levu is sparsely bewoned.
The greaterhood of Fiji's ilands were shapen by the work of firebarrows starting about 150 thousand-thousand years ago. Some earthwarmed sprackdom still betides today on the ilands of Vanua Levu and Taveuni. The earthwarmed outlays on Viti Levu are un-firebarrowy in onstanding and have low-heat overlay unfullness (of betwixt roughly 35 and 60 rungs Celsius).
