Song 1

(Oversetting by William Joye, fixed by MDS)

1 Blessed is that man which walketh not in the rede of the ungodly, and standeth not in the way of sinners, and sitteth not in the seat of the irksome scorners.

2 But hath all his lust in the law of the LORD, and upon it his mind is busy, both day and night.

3 Such a man is like a tree worted by the streamside which gives forth its ovet in due time and her leaves do not wither, for whatsoever he does shall fare well.

4 But so shall not the ungodly, for they are like dust which is strewn out with the wind.

5 Wherefore these ungodly do not stand in the deeming, neither these sinners may abide in the fellowship of the righteous;

6 for the LORD atesteth the way of the righteous, but the way of sinners shall perish.

Song 2

(Overset from Hebrew into Latin by Jerome, from Latin into Old English by Eadwine, and from OE into Anglish by MDS.)

1 Why are the theeds grim and the folk smay idleness.

2 Earth's kings stand up and the eldermen come together against the LORD and against His Christ.

3 Let's slit their bonds and worp their yokes from us.

4 He that dwells in heaven laughs at them and the LORD mocks them.

5 Then speaks He to them in His ire and in His hothearness He dreves them.

6 Soothly, I have been as king by Him over Zion, His holy dune, and preaching the LORD's bidding.

7 The Lord cwoth to me, "My son art thou, today I have begotten thee.

8 Ask of me and I will give the theeds thine ervewardness, for thine ownedness, earth's meres.

9 Thou shalt steer them with a belt of iron and like a potter's vat, thou shalt break them."

10 And now, O kings, grasp the thought, be learned all you who are deemers on earth.

11 Thane the LORD in awe and bless Him with fear.

12 Grip learnship, or sternness will come when the LORD ires and furthermore you are fordone from the right way,

13 for His ire burns shortly. Blessed are all they that trust on Him.

Song 18

2 The LORD is my rock, my stronghold, my freer. God is my strength, and in Him will I trust: my shield and the horn of my welfare: mine high hold and haven.

3 I will call upon the LORD, Who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be sheltered from any foe.

4 For the waves of death have beset me, the floods of the grave have feared me.

5 The ropes of death came around me, the snares of death overtook me.

6 In my unfrith I called to the LORD, and cried to my God. And He heard my call out of His church, and my cry came to His ears.

7And the earth shuddered and quoke, and the groundwork of the hills shifted and shook, since He was angry.

8 Smoke went up out of his nostrils, and an intaking fire came out of his mouth, so that coals flamed forth from Him.

9 And He bowed heaven and came down, and darkness underneath His feet.

10 And He rode upon Cherub and flew, and was ferried upon the wings of the wind.

11 And He made darkness a tilding around Him, with water gathered together in thick clouds.

12 From the brightness that was before Him, coals were set on fire.

13 The LORD thundered from heaven, and the Most High out His call.

14 And He shot arrows and scattered them, and hurled lightning and astonished them.

15 And the headsprings of the waters were seen, and the groundworks of the round world were aborn at Thy snaping, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of Thy nostrils.

16 He sent from on high and fetched me, He plucked me out of mighty waters.

17 He nerried me from my mighty foe and from them that hate me; for they are too strong for me.

18 They stopped me in the day of my ailing, but the LORD was my stay.

19 And he brought me out into roomth ("enough space"), and freed me, since He glad in me.

20 The LORD aftergave me following my righteousness, after the cleanness of my hands he dealt with me.

21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have done no wicked shrinking from my God.

22 I had all His laws in my sight, and I casted not His behests from me,

23 but was blameless toward Him and kept myself from wickedness.

24 And the LORD did to me again following my righteousness, and after the cleanness of my hands before His eyes.

25 With the holy thou shalt be holy, and with the sound thou shalt deal soundly.

26 With the clean thou shalt be clean, and with the froward thou shalt be froward.

27 And the folks that are brought low, thou shalt help. And on the proud thou shalt cast Thine eyes.

28 Thou art my light, O LORD, and Thou shalt light my darkness.

29 With Thy help I will run thru an army of men, and in my God will I spring over a wall.

30 The way of God is blameless, and the word of the LORD is tried as gold, and He a shield to all that trust in Him.

31 For who is a God but the LORD, and who might but our God?

32 God is my strength in war and riddeth the way clear before me.

33 He maketh my feet like an hart's, and setteth me fast on high.

34 He teacheth mine hands to fight, that mine arms shall break a bow of steel.

35 Thou hast spared me with thy shield, and keptest me ever in keekness.

36 Thou madest me roomth to walk in, that my feet should not stumble.

37 I will follow my foes and overtook them, nor will I wend again until I have smote them.

38 I will waste them that they will not stand, but fall under my feet.

39 Thou hast girded me with strength to battle, and hast thrown my foes under me.

40 Thou madest my foes to wend their backs to me, them that hated me: I forlored them.

41 They looked for help, but none came to take them; unto the LORD they cried, but He heard them not.

42 I will grind them as small as the dust of the earth; I will tread them as the dirt of the streat, spreading them abroad.

43 And Thou did nery me from the groanings of my kinfolk, and had me as head over the Heathen, for the folk which I knew not became my thaners.

44 And the outlanders crouched unto me, listening to my every word.

45 The outlanders that shrink away shall shake for fear of their shielded steads.

46 The Lord liveth, and blessed be my Strength; lifted up be the God of my welfare.

47 It is God that awrecketh (avengeth) me, and bringeth the folk under me.

48 He freeth me from my foes and liftest me high over them that rise against me, and ridest me from the wicked men.

49 Therefore will I praise Thee, O LORD, among the Heathen, and will sing unto Thy Name,

50 for Thy great and manifold shielding of Thy king, and showing kindness unto Thy chosen, even David, and his seed forever.

Song 23 (Brought from the Hebrew tung over to Anglish by MDS)

1 A song of David. YHWH is my shepherd. I cannot fail.

2 In green abodes He lays me down, upon springs of stillness He leads me.

3 My soul does He fill, and guide me in my paths of righteousness for the sake of His Name.

4 Yea, were I even to walk in deathly hallows, I would not fear evil since You are with-me; Your rod and Your staff: they soothe me.

5 You set up before me a meal board against my downtrodders. You heap rich oil on my head and fill my cup to the brim.

6 Oh, that Goodness and godkindness would run after me every day of my life, that I could abide in the house of YHWH forever! So be it.

Song 42

(oversetting by Miles Coverdale, fixed by MDS)

1 Like the hart lusts for water, so my soul longs for You, O God.

2 My soul thirsts for God; yea, even for the living God; when shall I come to show up before the theresomeness of God?

3 My tears have been my food day and night, while they daily say to me, "Where is your god now?"

4 When I think thereon, I yote out my heart by myself; for I went with the crowd and brought them forth in the house of God, in the sound of praise and thanksgiving, among us as keep the Day of Rest.

5 Why are you so down-cast, O my soul, and why are you so stired within me? Put your trust in God; for I will give thanks for the help of His foreside.

6 My God, my soul is dretched within me; therefore I bethink the land of Yordan and the little hill of Hermon.

7 Deep calls to deap with the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and floods have gone over me.

8 YHWH has granted His godkindness in the daytime; and in the nighttime did I sing of Him, and made my bidding unto the God of my life.

9 I will say to God my strength, "Why have You forgotten me? Why do I drag so, while the fiend trods down on me?"

10 My bones are smitten asunder like with a sword, while my foes that dretch me mock me, saying unto me day after day, "So now where is your god?"

11 Why so down-cast, O my soul; why are you so stired within me? Oh, Put your trust in God; for I will still thank Him, Who is the help of my foreside, and my God.
