The mind is a word for the higher workings of man's brain: thought, feeling, self and knowledge. Though some wights have some or all of these workings, they are not thought of as having a mind.

In times foregone, the mind was seen as somehow akin to the soul, and thus a bit of the undying self gainstanding the deathbound body. At now, with a greater understanding of the brain, the mind is seen as one of its workings.
