Sassarish (Sassaresu or Turritanu) is an Italish-Dalmatish tung and wendsome landspeech between Sardinish and Corsish.[1][2][3] It is deemed a Corsish–Sardinish tung owing to Sassary's sheedly ties with Tuscany and landlorely nearness to Corsica. Notwithstanding the strong Sardinish sway (mostly on wordhoard and reardwork, as well as wordsetting),[4] it still keeps its Corsish (and therefore Tuscanish) roots, which strongly link it to Gallurish; the latter is speechlorewise thought of as a Corsish undertung notwithstanding its landlorely stow, although this foresetting is an inting of gainwending. It has many alikenesses to Italish and above all to the old Italish undertungs from Tuscany.[5][6][7]

Sassarish is spoken by about 100,000 folk, out of an overall befolking of 175,000, in the northwest shorelands of Sardinny, Italy. Stour Sassarish-speaking fellowships are found in Sassary, Stintino, Sorso, and Towershaven. The Sassarish bytungs shifting to Gallurish, known as the Castellanesi bytungs, can be heard in Sardbury, Tergu, and Sedini.

Sassarish arose as a townish shared tung in the late deal of the eld of the Deemerdoms (13th–14th yearhundred), grounded on a mishing of sundry tungs, namely Sardinish, Corsish/Tuscanish, and Ligurish; the neighboring Logudorish bytungs of Sardinish had a meaningful inflood on the latterday speechly growth, along with some Catalandish and Spanish word-hoard. There are many latterday and older works both on and in Sassarish, and a rime of couthly, folkly, and waverly happenings are often held in kinship to it.

In 1943 the Theech speechlorer Max Leopold Wagner wrote:

... An everyday speech which, by all clews, was shaped little by little from the 16th yearhundred, after many highly deadly outbreaks wrecked the stead's befolking; the bulk of those left alive was of Pisanish and Corsish stem, there were even Genoish. Thus, this thwarsebreed landspeech was born, and is now spoken in Sassary, Towershaven and Sorso, whose bedrock is Tuscanish-shifted with smatches of Genoish, with more than a few Sardinish words to boot.[8]

Acknowledged standing[]

Sassarish is acknowledged as a revetung by the landly leadership of Sardinny:[9]

"The same worth bestowed upon the Sardinish couth and tung is acknowledged with heed to the turf in fraining, to the couth and Catalandish tung of Alghero, the Tabarkish of the ilands of Sulchis, the Sassarish and Gallurish bytung. - Selfwielding Landship of Sardinny., Leaf 2, sidewrit 4, Landly Law from 15 Win 1997 about the "Furthering and worthening of the couth and tung of Sardinny".[10]

Eccu eju vi mandu cumenti peguri in mezu a li lupi. Sìaddi dunca prudenti comu li silpenti, e simplizi comu li culombi. Gualdeddibi però dall’omini. Palchì vi hani a fà cumparì in li cunzilj, e vi hani a frultà in li so’ sinagoghi: E vi hani a cunduzì dananzi a li presidi, e a li re par amori meju, pal tiltimognu d’eddis, e di li nazioni. Ecco: io vi mando come pecore in mezzo a lupi; siate dunque prudenti come i serpenti e semplici come le colombe.
