Star Trek is a cluster of Americkish lore-makebelieve brooking sightcast shows and films made by Gene Roddenberry and owned by Paramount and CBS. The first chain began in 1966 and ran for three yeartides.
The first chain was followed by the short-lived "Star Trek: The Enlivened Chain" and six films. In time, a full four more shows were made, rooted in the same world but starring other folk. Four more films were made, starring the folk from "Star Trek: The Next Brood".
In 2009, a film again-boot of the cluster was made, with another film plotted for loosing in the summer of 2011.
Beginnings and Setting
In 1961, Gene Roddenberry wrote a forthput for the lore-makebelieve show that would in time become Star Trek. Openly, he spoke of it as a Western in worldroom, and called it a "Cart-Tug to the Stars", bespeaking the well-liked Western sightcast show. To friends, however, he said that he wanted to root it in Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels, plotting each play of the chain to have both a tale of awesome undertaking and a teaching of zedelihood.
Star Trek tales most often follow the undertakings of the earthlings and outlanders bestead in Starfleet, the worldroom-borne fleet of the Knitted Band of Worlds. The fights and mootish bits of the tales often stand in for like-timed worries in the true world which, if not told in the wonderful setting of worldroom, might have been too strong to show on sightcast. The plays of the sundry chains of Star Trek have inclosed such worries as war and frith, true-heartedness, over-strong ruling, overlordship, warfare of folkset standing, thriftlore, stockdom, worship, mennish rights, folkhalfdom and womandom, and the stead of craftlore.
