Sweyn Forkbeard (about 960 - 3 February 1014) was king of Denmark and England, a leading warman, and father of Canute the Great. He followed his own father Harald Bluetooth as king of Denmark in late 986 or early 987, and was overlord of most of Norway by 1000. In 1013, shortly before his death, he overcame England.
